Terms of Use

1. Who May Use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and old enough to consent to these Terms where you live. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow them to create accounts.

2. Using FridgeVista With or Without an Account

The Service may be used without creating a FridgeVista account. In guest mode, you may use fridge inventory, shopping lists, expiration tracking, local reminders, appearance and app settings, privacy controls, and local data-clearing tools.

Hosted AI, recipe and web search, custom AI-provider settings, Apple subscriptions, account management, and other account-based services require sign-in.

Guest data is stored only in FridgeVista's local app storage on the device. It is not associated with a FridgeVista account, synchronized to FridgeVista, or synchronized to another device. Clearing local data, clearing app data, or uninstalling FridgeVista may permanently remove guest data. FridgeVista cannot restore it from a server. Creating or signing in to an account does not automatically transfer guest data in this version.

If you create or use an account, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your sign-in credentials and device secure, and tell us promptly if you believe the account has been accessed without your permission. You are responsible for activity occurring through your account.

You may not share your account, sell it, or create accounts to evade usage limits or a suspension. You can delete your account at any time as described in the Account Deletion page.

3. What the Service Does

FridgeVista helps you track food inventory, expiration dates, storage locations, shopping lists, recipes, and food preferences, and provides an AI assistant for food and recipe questions. Core tracking features are available without an account. AI and recipe-search features require sign-in.

Guest inventory, lists, preferences, and settings are stored locally and are not associated with an account. FridgeVista's servers provide authentication, subscription entitlement, usage accounting, and hosted AI services only for signed-in users.

You need an internet connection and a FridgeVista account for AI features, subscription features, and recipe search. Apple Intelligence features require a supported device, and Apple's own availability rules apply.

4. AI Features and Third-Party Providers

You choose which AI provider FridgeVista uses: FridgeVista Cloud AI, Apple Intelligence, or an OpenAI-compatible provider that you configure with your own API key. If you configure your own provider, you are responsible for that account, its costs, and its terms, and you must keep your own use within those terms.

AI output is generated by machine learning systems. It can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, and it can vary between requests for the same question. You are responsible for reviewing anything the assistant produces before you rely on it, including ingredient lists, quantities, cooking steps, substitutions, storage advice, and anything you add to your lists.

Do not enter passwords, payment details, government identifiers, medical information, or other highly sensitive information into an AI request or an attached photo. Prompts and attached photos are transmitted to the provider you selected as described in the Privacy Policy, and providers may process that content under their own terms.

We may change the models, providers, quotas, or availability of AI features at any time. Apple Intelligence availability depends on your device, your operating-system version, your Apple account settings, and any daily limits Apple applies.

5. Food, Nutrition, and Safety

FridgeVista is a household organization tool, not a food-safety, medical, or dietary professional service. Statements in this section are important to how you use the Service.

• Expiration dates, storage advice, and shelf-life suggestions are estimates, including estimates generated by an AI model. They are not a guarantee that food is safe. Refrigerator temperature, packaging, handling, and transport all affect safety. When in doubt, throw it out.
• Calorie, nutrition, and timing values are estimates. Values labeled "est." or marked as estimated are generated by an AI model rather than taken from the publisher, and may be materially inaccurate.
• Recipe results come from third-party websites and from AI processing of those pages. FridgeVista does not test, verify, or endorse any recipe.
• Allergen and dietary preferences filter results, but they do not make the Service safe for you. Recipes, ingredient lists, product labels, and restaurant food can contain allergens that our searches do not detect, and cross-contamination is out of scope. Always verify ingredients and labels yourself when your health depends on it.
• Nothing in the Service is medical or nutritional advice. Consult a qualified professional about your diet, allergies, or health conditions.

6. Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds

FridgeVista offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions that unlock higher AI usage limits and additional models. Prices, subscription periods, and available plans are shown in the app before you confirm a purchase, in the currency Apple assigns to your Apple Account.

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
• A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel a subscription from the app through Manage Apple Subscription, or in your Apple Account's subscription settings. Deleting your FridgeVista account does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. FridgeVista cannot issue App Store refunds, and refunds are not provided for partially used periods.
• Paid access is granted only after FridgeVista verifies the Apple transaction for your account. Verified Apple state determines your entitlement, and self-reported app status can never grant access that Apple did not verify.
• If you use a free tier, usage limits, model availability, and completion limits may change. Prompt-cache and quota accounting are approximate and enforced server-side.
• If a subscription price changes, Apple will notify you as required and seek consent where required before the change applies.

Apple's standard end-user license agreement and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions also apply to your App Store purchase.

7. Your Content

You keep ownership of the content you create in the Service, including your inventory entries, lists, recipes you save, preferences, notes, chat messages, and photos you attach.

You grant FridgeVista a limited licence to transmit, process, and store that content only to the extent needed to operate the features you use and to provide the Service to you — for example, sending a request to the AI provider you selected, or storing your subscription state. This licence ends when the content is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy, other than for the limited records the Privacy Policy describes.

You are responsible for your content and for making sure you have the right to use it. Do not upload material that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, or that you do not have permission to share.

8. Acceptable Use

When using FridgeVista, you agree not to:

• use the Service for anything unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent, or in breach of these Terms or the terms of the AI provider you selected;
• attempt to bypass authentication, subscription verification, usage quotas, rate limits, or other technical controls, including by editing the app, forging transaction evidence, or scripting the backend;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, models, prompts, or other non-public parts of the Service, except where that restriction is not allowed by law;
• interfere with, overload, scrape, or resell the Service or its search and AI capacity;
• use the Service to generate content that is illegal, that harasses or harms others, or that infringes third-party rights; or
• impersonate FridgeVista, another person, or a support representative.

We may suspend or terminate access for a breach of this section.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, the FridgeVista name and logo, the app's design and interface, our prompts and system instructions, and our software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store rules. You may not copy, sell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service.

Recipes, photographs, and other material retrieved from third-party websites remain the property of those publishers, and FridgeVista shows the source so you can visit the original page. Your use of that third-party material is subject to the publisher's own terms and copyright. Open-source components used in the app are listed on the Licences page.

10. Availability and Changes

We aim to keep FridgeVista running, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service depends on third parties, including Apple, Google Firebase, Sentry, our AI providers, and our search provider, and on hosting capacity. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed, and we may set or change usage limits for free and paid tiers. AI requests may fail or time out, and failed requests may still count against usage limits that the provider reports.

We may also update the app through over-the-air updates and App Store releases. Some updates require a full app release, and not every device will receive every feature.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," and we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI output, expiration estimates, nutrition estimates, recipes, or search results are accurate, complete, or suitable for your situation.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FridgeVista is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, lost goodwill, food loss, illness, or the cost of substitute services, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, even if we were advised that such damage was possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) 50 USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold FridgeVista harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your content, your use of the Service, your use of a third-party AI provider, or your breach of these Terms. This does not apply to the extent the claim results from our own negligence or breach.

14. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using FridgeVista at any time. Guest users may erase device-local guest data from Settings > Privacy & Data. Signed-in users may delete their account from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your use creates a security, legal, or operational risk for FridgeVista or other users. Where practical, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export or delete your data.

When these Terms end, the sections that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — will continue to apply.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts located in Los Angeles County, California have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own country of residence.

Before starting formal proceedings, you and FridgeVista agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting support.pantrio@gmail.com. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking relief in small claims court or from seeking urgent injunctive relief.

16. Apple and App Store Terms

These Terms are between you and FridgeVista only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. The following also applies when you obtain the app through the App Store:

• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the app.
• If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
• FridgeVista, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer-protection or similar legislation.
• FridgeVista, not Apple, is responsible for investigating and resolving claims that the app or your use of it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

If you use Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, Apple Intelligence, or Apple subscriptions, Apple's and Google's own terms also apply to those services.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, to the law, or to our practices. The updated Terms will show a new effective date, and we will provide additional notice for material changes where required. If you keep using FridgeVista after an update takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
